The Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) is the only national certification program designed exclusively for managers of homeowner and condominium associations and cooperatives. The CMCA recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the fundamental knowledge required to manage community associations.
To obtain the CMCA certification, a candidate must demonstrate basic knowledge in many areas of community management, including:

- Governance and legal matters
- Budgets, reserves, investments, and assessments
- Risk management and insurance
- Meetings management
- Human resource management
- Fulfill at least one of the three of the prerequisite requirements
- Prerequisite Course: Complete and pass a pre-approved prerequisite course on community association management; or
- Experience: Have at least five years experience as a community association manager; or
- License or Credential: Hold an active Arizona CAAM, California CCAM, Florida CAM or Nevada CAM
- Submit an application for the CMCA certification
- Successfully pass the CMCA examination

On Monday, April 5, 2010, Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) was notified that the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) certification program has been granted accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). When CAMICB, formerly NBC-CAM, was started in 1995, it was created based on NCCA's stringent standards to define our purpose, create our governance, establish responsibilities to stakeholders and create assessment instruments for a successful certification program. After 15 years of hard work and nearly 10,000 credentialed managers around the globe, CAMICB is proud to have earned this prestigious accreditation for the CMCA certification program.
We would like to extend a special thank you and congratulations to those who started CAMICB, those who governed the program over the past 15 years and those who have been a part of creating and maintaining this successful credential.
