Board Names Sandy Denton Vice Chair

Industry Leader Greg Smith Joins Board as Commissioner


Falls Church, Virginia – February 6, 2019 – The Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) announced its 2019 Board of Commissioners welcoming Sandy Denton, CMCA, LSM, PCAM, to the role of Vice Chair and Greg Smith, CMCA, AMS, PCAM to serve as a Commissioner.

“As a Commissioner on the Board for the past two years, Sandy is well-poised to assume the role of Vice Chair,” said Board Chair, Drew Mulhare, CMCA, LSM, PCAM. “Sandy is a tireless and engaged change agent for the profession and a strong advocate for the CMCA credential. From her efforts as a member of the CAMICB Exam Development Committee and Continuing Education Review Committee, to her former roles as President of Community Associations Institute (CAI) as well as the Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR), Sandy brings an abundance of knowledge, experience and passion to her work.” Denton currently serves as a member of CAI’s Large Scale Committee, its Government and Public Affairs Committee and is a faculty member for CAI.

“The appointment of Greg to the board is a natural fit,” added Mulhare. “Greg honorably served as CAI’s 2017 president and has been a valued member of the board of trustees. He has vast industry experience and a deep understanding of the international community association management landscape and best practices. His perspective and insights will be invaluable as CAMICB expands its international presence.”

I’m excited about the expansion of the CMCA credential and stand ready to further this mission.”

Denton is currently the General Manager for the Sienna Plantation Associations in Missouri City, Texas. Sienna is a large master planned community encompassing over 10,000 acres and currently has approximately 7,200 houses, with another 6,500 planned. Prior to joining Sienna in January, 2005, Denton was the Executive Director for First Colony Community Association (FCCA) in Sugar Land, Texas, a large master planned community consisting of over 10,000 acres and approximately 12,500 units (residential and commercial). Denton was with FCCA for over 15 years.

Smith has more than 17 years of community management experience and has served in several positions including portfolio manager, vice president, and president. Smith has been a valued member of Associa, the industry’s largest community management company, since 2010. He currently serves as a Senior Community Management Consultant where he is responsible for the training and development of Associa’s community managers, branch leaders, and board members across North America. Smith is a CAI faculty member and has spoken at numerous CAI Annual Conferences and Chapter events.

CAMICB is governed by a nine-member Board of Commissioners. Seven commissioners are community association managers and two represent the public's interests. In addition to Denton and Smith, each elected to a three-year term, other CAMICB Board of Commissioners include:
